Medway Schools Training
Overview
In April and May 2024, Hawksafe provided bespoke health and safety training to staff at Medway schools. This annual training, written and delivered by Andy, covered vital topics such as Manual Handling, Working at Height, Asbestos Awareness, and Risk Assessing. The training was specifically designed to meet the needs of school staff, ensuring they were equipped with the knowledge and skills to manage safety effectively in their educational setting.
Challenges & Solutions
Medway schools face a variety of health and safety challenges, including:
- Diverse Staff Roles: Staff across different departments (teaching, maintenance, administration) require tailored training suited to their specific duties.
- Ongoing Compliance: Schools must uphold high safety standards and ensure compliance with legal health and safety requirements year after year.
- Specialised Safety Topics: Training on crucial issues such as asbestos awareness, safe manual handling, and risk assessment is essential to reducing risks in the school environment.
To address these challenges, Hawksafe developed and delivered bespoke training courses specifically tailored for the school setting. The training covered:
- Manual Handling: Safe techniques for preventing injury when lifting and carrying objects.
- Working at Height: Ensuring safety when working on ladders or other elevated surfaces.
- Asbestos Awareness: Educating staff on recognising and managing asbestos-related risks.
- Risk Assessing: Training staff to effectively assess and manage risks within the school environment.
Outcome
The annual training sessions provided in April and May 2024 have strengthened the safety culture at Medway schools. By equipping staff with practical knowledge and skills, Hawksafe has helped ensure ongoing compliance with health and safety regulations. The training has increased staff confidence in handling safety issues, resulting in a safer environment for both staff and students. With Hawksafe’s tailored training, Medway schools are well-prepared to manage risks, contributing to a safer, more productive school year.
